Trampoline Exercise for the Whole Family

Who doesn't like jumping up and down on their outdoor toys? Kids do it in excitement and anticipation of presents or of going to the movies. Adults do it when they receive that long awaited promotion, or when they find out that they are finally expecting a baby and sports fans jump up and down wildly when their team scores that winning point! Jumping up and down is a natural human condition and really gets your heart pumping too.

Trampoline exercise is cardiovascular in nature because it gets your pulse racing and the movements can be sustained for 30 minutes, which is the recommended time for healthy adults to exercise 3 times a week.

You may not be able to do 30 minutes right away on the trampoline, as exercise is something you may need to increase gradually especially if you are not used to doing it on a regular basis. Always consult a physician before starting any exercise program, especially if you normally have a sedentary lifestyle, or if you have any chronic health issues.

The continuous jumping motions strengthen your leg muscles, back muscles and increase your endurance level. It also helps to tone muscles all over your body including your arm and abdominal muscles. When your endurance level increases you can do better with other sports like swimming and jogging. You will find that when you tone up and improve your endurance those incidences of huffing and puffing as you climb hills or stairs will disappear because you will be in better physical shape. You will find that you can lift heavier objects and do tasks that require strength for longer periods of time.

When you build muscle you increase your metabolism and you can lose weight.

Not only does the movements performed while on a trampoline improve muscle tone, it improves your lymphatic circulation which could regulate your cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

The exercise time spent on the trampoline helps maintain healthy joints because when your joints move they help lubricate and this can improve joint health.

Your balance will improve and your coordination too.

Exercising on a trampoline is such great exercise for adults, what about kids?

Kids love to jump too! They have a real need to jump just ask any mom how many times her sofa, couch or bed has been used for this activity? They never seem to tire of jumping and let’s face it the sofa or bed is not exactly a safe place for jumping because the resistance is not all that great and kids can go flying across the room.

To them, jumping on the trampoline is play but adults know that what kids are doing is called exercise. They are working leg, back, and arm muscles. Trampoline exercise is the perfect way for obese children to lose weight in a fun way that you won’t have to nag them to do. An essential part of maintaining a healthy weight for children involves proper nutrition, proper sleep and adequate amounts of safe exercise every day. What better way to get kids to exercise than to provide them with a safe way to do what they love to do – jump!
